FIFA has officially revealed that over 120 nations will compete in the FIFAe esports ecosystem during the 2026 season. This marks the largest and most inclusive football esports season ever, with more than half of FIFA’s 211 Member Associations taking part.
The announcement highlights the rapid global rise of competitive gaming under the FIFAe banner.
The expanded participation builds on last year’s record of 94 nations and signals FIFA’s strong push to make football esports truly worldwide.
Record Growth of the FIFAe Esports Ecosystem
The jump to over 120 nations shows how quickly the FIFAe esports ecosystem is expanding. In 2022, only 84 nations took part. By 2025, that number rose to 94. Now, in 2026, it crosses the 120-mark, making it one of the biggest national-team-based esports programs in the world.
This growth comes from year-round qualification pathways that give more countries a realistic chance to compete at the highest level. The ecosystem includes three official titles:
Rocket League (3v3 format)
eFootball™ Console
eFootball™ Mobile (new 2v2 format introduced to boost teamwork)
Qualification starts with the FIFAe Nations League and moves into continental qualifiers, where top-performing nations advance to the FIFAe Finals 2026.
Year | Nations Participating |
2022 | 84 |
2025 | 94 (previous record) |
2026 | 120+ (new record) |
New Features Enhancing the FIFAe Esports Ecosystem
To make the season more engaging, FIFA is introducing FIFAe World Rankings and the FIFAe Performance Index. These year-round systems will track national teams and individual players across all official competitions and will be available on FIFA.GG.
The new 2v2 format in eFootball Mobile aligns it more closely with the console version, encouraging better strategy and cooperation. These changes aim to improve storytelling for fans and give players clearer goals throughout the year.
How to Participate in the FIFAe Esports Ecosystem?
Getting involved is more accessible than ever. Players can register and compete directly through the official platform at FIFA.GG. National team pathways are managed through FIFA Member Associations, so aspiring players should check with their country’s football federation or esports body.
In India, players interested in representing the nation can stay updated via the Esports Federation of India (ESFI). The expanded ecosystem opens doors for emerging talent from all regions, including strong mobile-first markets like India.
Whether you play Rocket League, eFootball on console, or mobile, the FIFAe esports ecosystem now offers more opportunities for national pride and global competition than ever before.
This record participation is a major milestone that strengthens football esports as a legitimate, structured career path and entertainment platform worldwide.
