In a significant boost for India’s digital future, KRAFTON Chairman Byung Gyu Chang met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and confirmed a fresh KRAFTON $250 million investment in India.

This additional commitment, to be deployed over the next three to four years, will take the company’s total planned direct investment in the country to approximately $500 million.

The meeting highlighted the deepening partnership between India and South Korea in gaming, technology, and emerging innovation sectors. It also aligns strongly with the government’s vision of “Create in India, Create for India, Create for the World” and the broader Viksit Bharat goals.

Why the KRAFTON $250 Million Investment in India Matters?

KRAFTON, best known in India for Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has already invested around $250 million since 2021. The new pledge doubles that direct commitment and signals long-term confidence in Indian talent, creators, and entrepreneurs.

Beyond pure gaming, the funds will support:

  • Growth of India’s gaming ecosystem and homegrown intellectual property

  • Indian startups across interactive entertainment

  • Expansion into artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and deep technology

This broader approach opens doors for developers working on everything from mobile games to cutting-edge tech solutions.

KRAFTON has also launched the KIGI Academy in partnership with institutions like IIT Madras to train future game developers and digital creators. The company earlier acquired a controlling stake in Pune-based Nautilus Mobile, the studio behind the popular Real Cricket series, further strengthening its local roots.

A Bright Outlook for Indian Developers and Gamers

For Indian game developers, this is more than capital, it is validation and opportunity. More funding means better resources for studios building original Indian IPs that can compete globally. Skill-development programs will help create a stronger pipeline of talent ready for the next generation of games and interactive experiences.

Gamers stand to benefit too. Stronger local development, sustained investment in popular titles, and a healthier ecosystem can lead to more high-quality content tailored for Indian audiences while giving Indian creators a real path to the world stage.

Chairman Byung Gyu Chang emphasized the potential: “India is a market of immense opportunity, with exceptional talent across gaming, technology and innovation. Our continued investments reflect our long-term confidence in India and our commitment to contributing to its digital economy.”

The combination of direct investment, a large growth fund, talent programs, and high-level government engagement creates a powerful foundation for the years ahead.

Looking Ahead

With the KRAFTON $250 million investment in India now confirmed, the company is positioning itself not just as a publisher of successful games, but as a long-term partner in building India’s digital and creative economy. Indian developers, startups, and gamers can look forward to more opportunities, better infrastructure, and a stronger platform to create experiences that resonate both at home and abroad.

This partnership between one of the world’s leading gaming companies and India’s growing tech ecosystem is a clear sign that the best is yet to come.
